December Local History Book Club

December 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Washington County Historical Society’s Local History Book Club will meet from 12 to 1 on Wednesday, December 10, at the Folklife Center, downstairs in the Crandall Library, 251 Glen Street, Glens Falls. This is a change from our usual hour due to the Folklife Center schedule.
The discussion focuses on “Bridging the Years,” Glens Falls, New York, 1763-1978, published by the Glens Falls Historical Association in 1978. Attention will be given to the lime industry, the paper industry, and the covered bridge.
Each attendee is asked to bring a used book wrapped for Christmas to exchange with other attendees. These will be taken home to open on Christmas.
Future sessions of the club will feature books about the larger Adirondack area as well as works by local authors. Upcoming topics include: Charles Evans Hughes, NY governor born in Glens Falls; Le Loup’s Bloody Trail from Salem to Argyle; and slavery in Washington County. For additional information, email Connie Harris Farrington at connieandlee@roadrunner.com.
